With the announcement of the government’s redevelopment of Chandni Chowk, which will include parking as its core, the expectations of businesses, shoppers, and brands have skyrocketed.
The redevelopment will change the face of Chandni Chowk and elevate the business environment and shopping experience.
Elevating the business environment in Chandni Chowk
- Spread across approx. 4.5 acres
- Three floors of retail space and 5 levels of parking
- Space for 2100+ car parks
- India’s largest food court
Omaxe was given approximately 4.5 acres of land by North DMC in order to provide parking for 2100+ cars. This will ease the traffic and parking woes at Asia’s largest wholesale and retail hub. Omaxe is developing a 10-lac square-foot next-generation wholesale and retail destination,
Omaxe Chowk, with 5 levels of parking and 3 levels of retail space, including India’s largest food court on the second floor. There is a dire need for parking in Chandni Chowk for the shop owners and the lakhs of customers who visit this market daily from all over the country, and Omaxe Chowk, once operational, will cater to this demand.
Technology to expedite construction of parking
To complete the parking in Chandni Chowk, which was halted due to the SC ban because of pollution and COVID-19-related lockdown, Omaxe is using all modern technologies and has tied up with Jindal Steel and Power Ltd. (JSPL) for supplying and erecting the building with a modular steel structure. The building structure will be supplied in knockdown form at the site. The structure can be erected at the site within 10 months from the start date.

Advanced steel structure technology being used
The building is designed using high grade steel structure with fabricated beam column as compared to the conventional construction methodology which helps in not only granting additional strength to the building structure but also saving a lot of time.
Additionally, other time-saving measures are being deployed to make up for the lost time in construction by adopting Diaphragm wall (D-wall) construction module, HDPE membrane for foundation waterproofing to name a few.
These measures, coupled with the deployment of additional manpower, will reduce the construction time of Chandni Chowk parking by at least 40% and help expedite delivery by July 2022.
