You have the weekend off, but don’t feel like braving serpentine traffic jams and driving more than 200 km to the hills? Worry not! Help is at hand. Living at the Celestia Grand Omaxe, Ludhiana, means you have a number of options to plan a quick getaway.
Amritsar– It takes around three hours to reach Amritsar by car from Ludhiana, India, and is an ideal place for a break. A visit to the Golden Temple and Akal Takht in Amritsar needs no reason and it is a place you can visit in all seasons. One of the must-attend activities here in Amritsar is watching the Wagah Border Parade. There is also the historically famous Jallianwala Bagh and Gobindgarh Fort. If you are a foodie, do not miss the famous Amritsari Kulcha and fish tikkas.
Patiala– A one and a half hour drive from Ludhiana, India, Patiala is another quick break you can plan. Patiala is situated around the Qila Mubarak complex. It is a fort cum palace built in Sikh Palace architectural style – a derivative of Mughal and Rajput style of architecture in India. There is also the Sheesh Mahal or Palace of Mirrors and Baradari Gardens. If you have some extra time in hand, they can also visit Gurudwara Dukhniwaran Sahib, Ijlas-e Khas, Jalau Khana and Sard Khana, Rang Mahal, Kali Temple, Lachman Jhoola, Maiji Di Sarai, Panj Bali Gurdwara, Rajindra Kothi, and Shahi Samadhan.
Kapurthala – Around 83 km from Ludhiana, India, Kapurthala or the City of Palaces and Gardens houses a varied range of attractions. From Panch Mandir, Kanjilal Wetlands to Gurudwara Ber Sahib to Pushpa Gujral Science City there are many places to explore. The Moorish Mosque, Kapurthala is patterned on the lines of the Grand Mosque of Marrakesh, Morocco and a must visit place for history buffs. Karnal – If you want to simply chill out and spent a day relaxing, head to Karnal, which is a three-hour drive from Ludhiana, India. Fatehgarh Sahib – Just over an hour drive from Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib is perfect for a day trip. The Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib is obviously a must visit place here. The Gurdwara has a history date back in 1710 and marks the conquest of the city by the Sikhs under the leadership of Banda Bahadur. There are a number of other attractions too, like the Aam Khas Bagh. It is the remains of a highway-inn constructed for the use of royalty as well as common people. This famous destination was initially built by Akbar and planned by Mughal architect Hafiz Rakhna.
